Looking for a Long-overdue Friend (OPEN)

*ABBI GONZALAS*
Abbi was going to go back to her tree for a while. She had been acting like a human for long enough, hadn't she? It had been a year, maybe even two, since she was last in her tree. Abbi wasn't watching other nymphs, they usually were mean to her. They called her the demigod wanna-be. She didn't want to be a demigod, she just like being friends with the demigods. Sighing, she kept walking until snapping a twig. Some one said, "Who's there" "Just me, Abbi, but you probably don't want to talk to me." she replied sullenly.

Abbi looked at the girl more closely. "I think I've seen you around." she said with a smile. Abbi liked making new friends, she had been for about 112 years. "My momma died in a fire when I was young..." she said softly. Abbi didn't like talking about it, but it seemed both of them needed friends.

* ABBI GONZALAS *
Abbi nodded, knowing what that felt like. "My momma died in a fire, and I never knew my father." she explained. Abbi sighed and shook it off, like she usually could. Soon a soft smile was fixed on her 14 year old-ish face. "Oh well, can't stop the inevitable can we?" Abbi asked with a shrug.

Abbi's face softened and she walked closer to Shyla . "Shh, Shyla it's okay." she said softly. Abbi smiled softly. "It's fine, we all need to cry sometimes. Well, more like a lot." she said with a smile. Abbi shook her head. "No, I want to be your friend, I don't have many. All my half blood friends die, and nymphs always hate me. Let's face it, we both need a friend." she said with a nod. Abbi pushed a strand of her hair behind her ears and smiled at Shyla, to make it okay.

Abbi smiled and nodded. She was glad to make Shyla feel better. " Of course! I love friends!" she said with an energetic smile. Abbi felt a whole lot better now that she had a real friend. A nymph even, a real friend, just like her! She had a feeling today would be a good day.

I smiled. I couldn't remember having a friend, so I wasn't sure if I loved them, but I was sure I would. Especially if Abbi was my, well, you could call her test subject. A test subject I knew I would grow close to. "I'm pretty sure I love friends! I can't remember having friends though. I'm sure I'll love having you as a friend though," I smiled. Maybe Abbi could introduce me to some of her demigod friends, even if they did die eventually.

Shyla~Ivy~Springstein
I looked up as I heard the voice of a boy. I hadn't heard the voice of a male, since, well, since Papa died. There was something about a male's voice that was soothing. The way it was lower than a female's. It was probably just because I hadn't heard a boy speak in years, but I liked it better.
The boy who was approaching us wasn't a nymph, as I had first assumed. It was a boy demi-god. I wasn't used to mortal aging, so I couldn't tell how old he was.
He had stunning green eyes. They reminded of the sea weed Papa would show me sometimes.
"Hello," I smiled. I was suddenly a lot braver than before I had made friends with Abbi.

Abbi turned her head to see who Shyla was talking too. She had heard the voice too, but was a little more open to the person, and ran out to see who it was. It was a Poseidon boy. Abbi felt a smile spread across her face. "Hi Reiko." she said brightly. The nymph knew most of the demigods around camp, which included him. She looked at Shyla, who was smiling at him. Abbi was happy to see her new friend more social than before.

Reiko smiled at Abbi. "Hey Abbi, this a friend of yours?" he asked politely. He had a soft spot for nymphs, since they were a big part of nature and he adored nature.
"It's nice to meet you." he told the other nymph. He had known Abbi since he came to Camp Half-Blood as he always walked around Zephyros Creek when he had free time.

Abbi smiled and looked at Shyla. The girl turned back to the demigod and nodded. "Yeah, we're like best buds." Abbi said with a smile, throwing an arm around Shyla. She wanted to symbolize that they were friends, and would stay that way. Then a cold wind seemed to come on the warm atmosphere.

She looked over at Kaine, a Khione boy. "Hi ya Kaine." Abbi said with a big grin. "How's it going?" she asked warmly.

Reiko glanced at Kaine and nodded. "Hey, Kaine. Khione cabin leader, right?" he smiled, remembering him from the council meetings. He then looked at Abbi and Shyla and smiled warmly.
"You sure are friendly, Abbi." he remarked in his rich tone.

Kaine smiled up at the two nymphs, then glanced at Reiko and nodded. "Yeah, I'm the Khione Cabin leader." he answered. His voice was slow, but melodic and soft. His bracelets jangled on his arms and frost fell from them. "Eh..they've been doing that ever since training this morning." he said miserably. Ice formed in his hair randomly and he leaned against the tree, gazing at the water.

I watched silently as Abbi socialised with the newcomers. The first one was Reiko, and the newest one was Kaine. Kaine was Khione's Cabin Leader, and his hair was growing snow. Even for the son of Khione that seemed weird.
Abbi threw her arm around me, stating that we were best buds. I smiled. I had a best bud. The way she said it made me warm inside, as though we were going to stay that way, for as long as we both lived.
"Hello, Reiko, Kaine. I'm Shyla," I offered my hand to Reiko. Once he shook it I would offer it to Kaine.

Abbi watched the demigods and nymph meet with a smile planted on her face. She liked that her new friend was meeting some of her other friends, and that they were getting along great. The nymph let her arm fall back to her sides, as she crossed them and rubbed her arms. "Kaine, wanna turn your snow-ness off?" Abbi asked. "If you can..." she added, not wanting to force him into anything.

Reiko suppressed a laugh when Abbi asked Kaine to turn his snowness off. He shook Shyla's hand in a friendly manner, and smiled at her. He was happy to have a new friend and hoped he could enjoy a nice walk with them sometime. "Actually, I came to see Abbi, and got blessed with new friends." he was obviously hiding something, and the thought of Hazel made him blush. He always thought of her now.

Kaine sighed softly. "I don't even know why it does that." he said in a mildly agitated voice, running a hand through his hair and pulling out a perfect snowflake. He dropped it and shook Shyla's hand, trying not to chill her to the bone. He concentrated, and the snow slowed, but his bracelets still emitted an odd aura, keeping him cold, which he didn't mind, but this is part of the reason he isn't so social. His eyes averted to his feet, feeling glum he sighed deeply again.

I tried not to react when I shook Kaine's hand, but a shiver ran up my spine. I still smiled at him, knowing it wasn't his fault. I could tell he was trying not to be cold. It was nice of him for trying.
"Why did you want to see Abbi?" I turned to Reiko. I could tell he was hiding something, but didn't want to ask. It was probably something personal. It might even be the reason Reiko had wanted to see Abbi, they seemed like they knew each other pretty well.

"When it comes down to the end, you gotta have trees."
Abbi let her arms fall back to her sides, feeling some warmth come back to her. She smiled at the demigods and noticed that Shyla jumped a little when shaking the Khione boy's hand. He must've still been cold, which wasn't his fault. Abbi raised and eyebrow at Reiko, since he said he had come to see her. Then when Shyla popped the question, the nymph added to it. "So, yeah, why did you come to see me?" Abbi asked, her eyebrow raised.

She saw the blush plastered across his face, and knew right then and there. Her face lit up in a grin and she put her hand to her mouth. "Aww, Reiko has a crush! That's adorable!" Abbi said giddily. She hadn't ever thought that Reiko would get a girl so soon, it seemed he was more into the 'flirting' concept.

Reiko's face become even brighter red, and he hid his face in his hands. "That is exactly why I wanted to talk to Abbi." he replied quietly, his voice soft. Ever since he met Hazel he couldn't stop thinking of her. He wanted to tell someone he could trust, a good friend. The first person he thought of was Abbi. He sighed happily and looked down at the ground.

Sooooo. Reiko has a crush. That's cool. And pretty awkward.
I looked to Kaine as he spoke to me. I was glad at least one person did not want to talk about Reiko's crush. It wasn't that I didn't care, I just didn't know him that well, and I wasn't too interested in love or that sort of thing.
"Yeah. It is a nice day," I smiled at Kaine. He seemed nice. I was sure I would get over the fact that he was permanently cold. He'd make a pretty good friend, if you asked me.

Reiko glanced at Kaine and hoped he knew how to fight. "Protect Shyla and Abbi at all costs!" he shouted at Kaine. 'Guardian' appeared in Reiko's hand and water begun to whirl from his feet. His sea-green eyes ignited into blue-green flames. He looked pissed. "Don't we ever get a break?" he sighed, and charged the nearest dracanae, which happened to be the biggest one as well. Swinging his blade in an arc, the dracanae parried his blade into his chest and he skitted across the grass. "GET OUT OF HERE!" he shouted at Kaine, and the two nymphs.
